AI has huge potential to transform global trade operations, but how do organisations ensure they have the right foundations in place before putting it to work? Drawing on the experience of a migration journey, this session will explore the practical building blocks needed to make AI dependable in trade services, from standardising processes and improving master-data quality to strengthening integration, controls and auditability. It will also examine the importance of clear expert accountability in ensuring AI supports trade professionals without replacing the human judgement needed for complex compliance decisions. Through practical examples of potential AI use cases, the session will distinguish between opportunities for future development and solutions already implemented, helping attendees understand where AI could add value and where human expertise must remain central. Leave with a practical framework for assessing AI readiness and identifying the steps needed to move towards responsible, reliable AI adoption in global trade.
